The killing by Israel of the deputy commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Beirut is a horrific crime that will not go unanswered, said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi, quoted by Reuters and dariknews.bg. br />
Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan was killed in Israeli strikes on Beirut on Friday, which also killed the leader of the Lebanese Islamist movement "Hezbollah" Hassan Nasrallah.
"There is no doubt that this terrible crime committed by the Zionist regime (Israel) will not go unanswered," Arakchi warned in a statement addressed to the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Hossein Salami.

Earlier today, Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Baker Kalibaf was quoted by Iranian state media as saying that after Nasrallah's assassination, Iranian-backed armed groups would continue to oppose Israel with Tehran's help.
An alliance known as the Axis of Resistance, built over decades with Iranian support, includes the Palestinian group Hamas, Lebanon's Hezbollah, Yemen's Houthi rebels and various Shiite armed groups in Iraq and Syria, Reuters recalled.
"We will not hesitate to go to any level to help the resistance," said Kalibaf. He also issued a warning to Washington. "The United States is complicit in all these crimes and must take responsibility for the consequences," he said.
In connection with Nasrallah's assassination, Iranian Vice President for Strategic Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif told state media that Iran will react against Israel at a time it deems appropriate.
