British report: Ukraine attacks cause Russia heavy loss of munitions - 1

Recent Ukrainian drone strikes have caused the biggest losses for Russian stocks of ammunition since the beginning of the war in Ukraine in February 2020, the British Ministry of Defense announced today, quoted by DPA and BTA.

The department cites as an example the September 18 attack on a warehouse near the town of Toropets in Russia's Tver region, located northwest of Moscow, during which it is believed that at least 30,000 tons of ammunition were destroyed.

The ministry also reports another attack, from the early hours of September 21, against warehouses in Tikhoretsk in southern Russia's Krasnodar region, as well as another, again near Toropets, which caused significant losses.

According to the ministry report, the munitions destroyed in the three attacks represented “the largest loss of Russian and North Korean-supplied munitions during the war”.

„The strikes are likely to cause at least a short-term disruption in the supply of artillery and small arms ammunition to Russia,”, the document added.

The Russian armed forces have previously played down the losses and said the fires were started by falling debris from drones.

The British Ministry of Defense provided regular intelligence reports on the progress of the war. Moscow defines them as propaganda.
