The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken spoke with his colleagues from Turkey, China and Saudi Arabia in the last 24 hours about the risk of escalation in the Middle East, BTA reported.
Before the foreign ministers of the three countries with whom he held talks, Blinken emphasized that the escalation in the Middle East is not in anyone's interest, the US State Department announced.
Blinken's conversations with the three diplomats were conducted over the phone. Blinken has called on his counterparts in Turkey, Saudi Arabia and China to put pressure on Iran not to launch any attack on Israel.
"All countries should urge Iran not to escalate," said US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
Blinken also spoke by phone with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant. Before him, he reiterated the firm US support for Israel in the face of Iran's threats, Matthew Miller said, AFP reported.
White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said for her part that Washington had warned Iran against potential attacks against Israel.
Yesterday US President Joe Biden declared his unwavering support for Israel in the face of Iran's threats of punishment over the deadly strike on Iran's diplomatic compound in the Syrian capital of Damascus.
Yesterday, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that Israel will be punished for this April 1 attack, which Syria attributes to it.
16 people died in the strike, including 7 members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is Iran's ideological wing.
Today, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant also held a conversation with American Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, to whom he stated that a direct Iranian attack on Israel would require an appropriate response, Reuters reported.
