European farmers are calling tomorrow the fourth consecutive protest in Brussels since the beginning of the year. media in Belgium reported. It is specified that the event was scheduled by agricultural producers from the Netherlands, who are dissatisfied with the expiration of the discount period from the requirements for natural fertilization of cultivated areas, writes BTA.
The organizers of the protest clarify that they expect a meeting with the European Commissioner for the Environment. They insist on participating in the drafting of legislative proposals related to their activity.
At the end of March, the EU Council announced that an agreement had been reached on changes to European agricultural policy in response to farmers' demands. The changes introduce simplification of administrative requirements for farmers, flexible procedures for evaluating the implementation of European rules and for environmental protection. It is envisaged that EU countries will be able to more easily grant exemptions to agricultural producers in exceptional circumstances.
The European Parliament is expected to consider the proposals under an urgent procedure and vote next week so that the changes can come into force by early summer. European farmers have previously warned that they will protest in Brussels on June 4, on the eve of the elections for MEPs.
