The first meeting of the Turkish cabinet after the local elections in the country on March 31 will take place today, BTA reported.
The meeting, which will be held in Beştepe Presidential Palace, will be chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
A number of important issues are expected to be discussed, including tensions between Iran and Israel. An assessment will be made of the diplomatic efforts made by Turkey to reduce the growing tension in the Middle East, informs the state television TRT.
Another topic that will be discussed at the meeting will be the fight against terrorism. A major anti-terrorist operation planned this summer in northern Iraq, where militants from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) are active, is expected to be discussed.
Details of Erdogan's planned visit to Iraq on April 22 will also be discussed at the cabinet meeting.
Another topic at the meeting will be the economy. Additional measures to be taken to permanently reduce inflation in Turkey will be assessed.
The previous cabinet meeting took place a month and a half ago.
