At least three workers from the Philippines have died in the United Arab Emirates due to heavy rains, Philippine Migrant Workers Affairs Minister Hans Leo Kakdak said. The total number of victims rose to four.

„It is with deep regret that we report the death of three workers during floods in the UAE. Two of them died in their car, which sank in the flood. Another died as a result of a traffic accident”, the minister wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

It was earlier reported that an elderly UAE citizen died in Ras Al Khaimah as a result of the disaster. According to the police, he was trying to cross a wadi, a dry riverbed that fills with water during heavy rains. The car the deceased was in was swept away by the heavy rain.

Emirates Airlines has returned to its normal flight schedule four days after Dubai International Airport was disrupted by record rainfall. "As of this morning, Saturday, April 20, the regular flight schedule has been restored. "Passengers who were previously stranded in the airport's transit area are being re-checked in and are being sent to their destinations," said airline CEO Tim Clark.

Low-cost airline Flydubai has also resumed normal operations for flights departing from Dubai International Airport's Terminals 2 and 3, which were disrupted by record-breaking rain, a spokesman for the carrier said. “Flydubai has returned to a full flight schedule from Dubai International (DXB) Terminals 2 and 3. We will pay special attention to our passengers whose travel plans have been affected in the coming days,” it said.

It is noted that the airline has informed its customers whose flights have been canceled about the possibility of a refund or rebooking. However, passengers who have booked through a travel agent should contact the travel agent directly.

Despite the resumption of normal flight schedules, the airline asked passengers to check their flight status on the carrier's website. In addition, passengers are advised to update their contact details in the “booking management” on the airline's website and complete online check-in before leaving for the airport.
