SDSM will never give up on the European future of (North) Macedonia , said at a press conference at the headquarters of SDSM in Skopje, the chairman of the party, Dimitar Kovachevski, after it became clear that Stevo Pendarovski is entering the second round of the presidential elections, which will be held on May 8, with a difference of at least 140 thousand votes in favor of Gordana Silyanovska, erected by VMRO-DPMNE, BTA reported.
„We were hoping for better results, but it's clear that people punished us for some mistakes and we accept that. This is a heavy blow for the European perspective of (North) Macedonia, but it is not too late to change direction, giving up is not an option for us. It is time to put aside our differences and unite behind the idea of a European (Northern) Macedonia. We have to put aside all disagreements, because we are talking about the future of the country, and if we miss the chance, it will take much longer to get it back on the right track,” Kovacevski said.
The chairman of the SDSM addressed his supporters, saying that despite their disappointment, now is not the time to give up.
„We still have two weeks, I will be on the ground, every day with you and we will work to get support for European Macedonia”, he said, and in response to a question about whether he would resign as chairman of the SDSM, he said , that he will answer after May 8.
On this date, the second round of the country's presidential elections will be held in North Macedonia, together with the parliamentary elections.
