NATO member countries are "deeply concerned" ; of the recent attacks, which they blame on Russia, and which affected the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and the United Kingdom, the alliance said in a statement published today, cited by Reuters and BTA.
"These cases are part of an intensifying campaign of activities that Russia continues to carry out in the Euro-Atlantic region, including on the territory of the union and through intermediaries,", the text reads.
European security services in recent weeks have uncovered a number of activities they say constitute Russian espionage, such as an online media spy ring busted by Czech investigators, prompting authorities in other countries to launch investigations as well.
European media also reported a member of the far-right Alternative for Germany party was accused of receiving money from a pro-Russian media site. The politician denied the accusations.
NATO member countries promised to "continue to strengthen" their resilience against such attacks and to apply their tools to "counter and counter Russian hybrid activities".
"Russia's actions will not deter allies from their support for Ukraine," the NATO statement added.
