The US government does not play a role in the establishment of the new Serbian government, our position towards the sanctioned ministers Vulin and Popovic are well known, the US Embassy in Belgrade said in response to an inquiry by the Serbian editorial staff of the regional television En 1, BTA reported.
„Our position towards (Alexander) Vulin and (Nenad) Popovic is well known. They remain under American sanctions, the embassy noted.
A US State Department spokesman earlier expressed disappointment that two people on the “blacklist” of the USA, have been proposed for positions in the new Serbian government.
On December 17, 2023, parliamentary elections were held, and yesterday the ministers of the new Serbian government were sworn in to parliament. The new positions of Vulin (deputy prime minister) and Popovich (minister without portfolio) in the government raised many questions, as well as criticism from the US.
