Russia is ready to discuss "serious" proposals for a way out of the conflict in Ukraine, based on existing "realities" and aligned with Moscow's security concerns, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA, referring to a statement from today by the spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.
She added in her briefing that Ukraine must promise to remain militarily neutral in the future. Reuters recalls that Kiev has already rejected similar conditions before.
On the other hand, according to Zakharova, what David Cameron said said that the West is waging war with Russia using the "hands of Ukraine". The British foreign secretary said yesterday that Ukraine has the right to use weapons provided by London to strike targets in Russia, and that the decision to do so rests with Kiev.
"Cameron's words are yet another proof of the hybrid war the West is waging against our country. Russia responds to this and will continue to respond," announced the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
In addition, Zakharova warned that Russia would deliver a "crushing blow of retribution" if Western-backed Ukraine attacked the Crimean bridge, which links southern Russia to the Black Sea peninsula annexed by Moscow in 2014.
The agency recalled that the bridge has been targeted by Kiev twice so far.
Reuters points out that the occasion for Zakharova's words was a publication on the social platform "X". of the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Serhiy Kislytsia. His May 1st post was titled "2024 List of 6 Major Bridge Types" and accompanied by a set of photos, the agency specifies.
The last photo published, titled Kerch, the Crimean city at one end of the bridge, was empty, prompting Reuters to suggest that perhaps the shot of the bridge was missing because it would have been destroyed.
"The Crimean bridge is in the crosshairs again. Attacks against him have been prepared many times - as hard as it is to imagine - and with the absolutely direct and shameless support of the collective West. I would like to warn Washington and Brussels that any offensive action against Crimea is not only doomed to failure, but will also meet with our crushing blow of retribution," said Maria Zakharova, quoted by Reuters.
