The United States is in talks with G7 countries G-7 to provide aid of 50 billion dollars (91.85 billion leva) to Ukraine, writes Bloomberg, quoted by FOCUS.

According to people familiar with the proposal, the plan is being discussed by the group's leaders, with the US pushing for an agreement during the G7 meeting in Italy in June.

"Discussions on this topic are difficult and it may take months to reach an agreement," the sources said.

The plan signals strong support from Washington after Congress approved $61 billion in aid for Kiev in April that was delayed for months by partisan bickering. The move will also put new pressure on the European Union to drop its objections to the use of frozen Russian assets.

Spokesmen for the US Treasury Department and the White House National Security Council declined to comment.

When asked about this type of proposal, in which the US or some of the G7 countries provide the aid funds that the EU pays out using frozen assets, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that "it is something which we discuss".

"Ideally, we would like all G7 members to be involved, to be a part of this, rather than the United States doing it alone," she told Bloomberg in an interview in Sedona, Arizona, on Friday ( May 3).
