Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who was seriously wounded in an assassination attempt yesterday, regained consciousness after an operation that lasted several hours, reported local media quoted by DPA and BTA.
Neither TV TA3, nor newspaper “Dennik” however, they provided more information on Fitzo's health late last night.
Earlier last evening, according to official information, there was a danger to the life of the 59-year-old politician. Since then, there has been no new statement or clarification from the government.
Fico was shot by a 71-year-old man in the Slovak mining town of Handlova. According to eyewitnesses, the man shot the prime minister several times after an adjourned cabinet meeting, while he was shaking hands with supporters who came to greet him.
According to the government, the shooting was politically motivated. The media reported that the wife of the alleged shooter was questioned by the police
