In Russia, 77-year-old physicist from Novosibirsk Anatoly Maslov was sentenced to 14 years in prison on charges of treason, BNR reported .
The prosecution asked for 17 years of imprisonment.
The court session took place behind closed doors.
Maslov worked at the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In 2022, he was arrested and accused of passing classified data on hypersonic research.
In April, a court in St. Petersburg sentenced physicist Alexander Kuranov to 7 years in prison. According to sources of "Kommersant" Kuranov has entered into an agreement with the prosecution and has agreed to testify against his colleague Maslov in order to reduce his own sentence.
