The second on the list of "Alternative for Germany" for the Euro vote has given up

Number two on the list of the far-right party "Alternative for Germany" (AzG) for the European elections, Peter Bistron has stopped campaigning for the time being. He cited family reasons. "The closest members of my family have once again become victims of a house search and media harassment,", Bistron told DPA, quoted by BTA.

"Anyone who doesn't understand that I have to take care of them first has no heart," he added.

Bistron is currently under investigation for money laundering and bribery. His home in Berlin was searched on Tuesday.

Bistron's statement came a few days after the chairmen of the AZG, Alice Weidel and Tino Hrupala, asked him to refrain from further appearances in the European election campaign until the allegations against him are clarified.

Yesterday, AzG's leading candidate for the June 9 European elections, Maximilian Cra, was banned from making public appearances following his comments that not all SS officers were criminals and a dispute with France's far-right National Assembly.
