Polish security forces announced that they had detained three people suspected of arson in several Polish regions at the behest of Russia , reported France Press, quoted by BTA.
"These are new arrests as part of an investigation into the activities of an organized criminal group aiming to carry out sabotage, in particular arson, at the behest of the Russian secret services," the statement said.
One Pole and two Belarusians were detained. The three could be sentenced to life imprisonment.
The statement also said that in January, a Ukrainian was detained for cooking arson in the western Polish city of Wroclaw.
In recent months, several fires have broken out in Poland, the cause of which has not been established, AFP notes.
Polish police are investigating the fire in a large building in the capital Warsaw, which destroyed 1,400 commercial establishments, mainly run by representatives of the Vietnamese community, in the middle of this month.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk recently said that in recent months there have been attempts at sabotage and arson in the country at the behest of Russian intelligence services. "Fortunately, thanks to the vigilance of our services and our allies, the attempts were thwarted," Tusk added.
