US Vice President leaves conference on Ukraine - 1

US Vice President Kamala Harris left a conference on Ukraine in Switzerland on June 15, which will continue for another day.

Before flying from Zurich to Washington, Harris answered a journalist's question about how she thought the meeting in Bürgenstock went. “She was good, very good,” said the US vice president.

Harris will not attend the conference on Sunday, according to her work schedule released earlier this week.

On the second day of the meeting, the United States will be represented by the national security adviser of the American leader, Jake Sullivan. He told reporters that on Sunday, a significant part of the work will be done at the level of assistant heads of state.

The conference on Ukraine takes place on June 15-16. Bern invited over 160 delegations, including from the Group of Seven, the Group of Twenty and the BRICS countries. But as the organizers announced on the eve of the meeting, not all of them sent their representatives: 91 countries, the Serbian region of Kosovo and 8 international organizations were present. 55 countries delegated heads of state and government. In Bürgenstock, the group of countries of the collective West is numerically dominant, which leaves no hope for a balanced discussion.

Russia is not invited to the forum. Most UN member states did not send their delegations. Notably, China is not on the list of participants, and Brazil participates with observer status. There are no delegations from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Venezuela, Egypt, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Cuba, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia and many other countries.

There are three items on the agenda of the forum. These are humanitarian issues, nuclear safety and food security. The Swiss government clarified on June 14 that the countries can share their views on issues such as the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of civilians and the repatriation of children. The final document is expected to be adopted.
