The introduction of a tactical pause in the southern part of the Gaza Strip is aimed at improving the humanitarian situation and does not mean a complete cessation of hostilities in the area, including the city of Rafah.
„The Israel Defense Forces make it clear that there is no cessation of hostilities in the southern Gaza Strip and fighting in Rafah continues. There are no changes in the procedure for importing goods into the Gaza Strip. The cargo transport axis will be opened during the day, in agreement with international organizations, only for the transportation of humanitarian aid,”, the press service of the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.
Earlier, the press service of the army announced the introduction of a “local tactical pause in hostilities” in the southern part of the enclave from 08:00 to 19:00 for humanitarian purposes. The army emphasized that this is being done “after further discussions with the UN and international organizations”.
It is noted that the pause applies to the route from the Kerem Shalom border crossing to the Salah al-Din highway and further north. The new procedure will be in effect “until further notice”.
