Two people were injured and six high-rise apartment blocks and other buildings were damaged in an early Russian missile attack this morning against Kyiv region, Reuters reported, citing local authorities.
Ukrainian air defense has intercepted two of the three Russian missiles fired at Kyiv region, wrote in “Telegram” the commander of the Air Force of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk, specified BTA.
Two people were injured by falling debris, but their condition did not require hospitalization, reported the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Ruslan Kravchenko.
Debris from the intercepted missiles caused damage to six multi-storey residential blocks, and more than 20 apartments were affected, Kravchenko added. There was also damage to a gas station, a pharmacy, an administrative building and three cars.
Airborne alert systems were activated at 4:50 a.m. local time in Kyiv and its surroundings, as well as in several other cities. Local residents told Reuters that several explosions were heard in the Ukrainian capital and its surroundings within about an hour.
