„Six bandits have been eliminated. More operative-search and investigative actions will be carried out until all the participants in the sleeping cells are identified, which, of course, are prepared, including from abroad”, said Melikov.
More than 15 policemen became victims of terrorist attacks in Dagestan, several civilians also died, Melikov said.
“More than 15 policemen became victims of the terrorist attack, protecting the peace and tranquility of Dagestan with weapons in their hands,” the head of the region said in a video posted on his Telegram channel.
In addition, Melikov added, several civilians were killed. In the republic, June 24, 25 and 26 are declared days of mourning.
As Melikov noted, the situation in the republic is controlled by state agencies and law enforcement officers. Operational search and search actions will be carried out until all participants in the “sleeping cells” are identified, he added.
On Sunday evening, a group of gunmen opened fire on a synagogue and a church in Derbent. As a result, a fire broke out in the buildings. Almost at the same time, it became known about an attack on a traffic police post in Makhachkala. In addition, another attack was carried out in the village of Sergokala. There, the attackers shot at a police car, and one of the policemen was wounded.

A source from the republic's law enforcement agencies informed RIA Novosti about the detention of the head of the Sergokalinsky district of Dagestan, Magomed Omarov, whose sons may be involved in the terrorist attacks.
