The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will consider a series of complaints from Ukraine and a number of European countries for interference that affected navigation services and television broadcasts, confirmed by the authority, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

The interference jammed GPS signals and could jeopardize air traffic control, the European Union said in a statement to the MSD earlier this month. In some cases, children's TV channels were affected, with images of violence from the war in Ukraine added to them.

Ukraine's June 3 complaint to the UN body, seen by Reuters, documented at least 11 cases of interference over the past three months that affected dozens of Ukrainian television programs.

The signal asks the authority to "take all possible measures to end the interference of the Russian Federation".

France, Sweden, the Netherlands and Luxembourg also sent complaints alleging "harmful interference" in their satellite networks, MSD confirmed, without specifying who was responsible.

The diplomatic mission of Russia in Geneva stated that the country acted in full compliance with the rules of the MSD. "Any attempt to dispute this fact is baseless and pointless," said a spokesman for the representation.

Western officials have accused Russia of a massive cyber attack on Ukraine's satellite internet network in the lead-up to its full-scale invasion of the neighboring country in 2022. Some airlines have recently complained of increasing GPS disruptions that affect navigation for months, and Estonia accused Russia of manipulating navigation devices in the airspace over the Baltic states.
