Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called on Greeks to prepare for a difficult forest fire season in his traditional weekly publication on Facebook, reported in “Kathimerini”, quoted by BTA.
“Difficult times are still ahead of us,” Mitsotakis wrote, adding that “our efforts are continuous. In these efforts, our allies are the new tools that build a new culture of prevention and responsibility.
He highlighted the difficulty of dealing with the Parnita mountain fire in Attica, which broke out on Saturday afternoon.
„The fire in Parnita was extremely severe, but it was detected immediately, thanks to the aerial surveillance with drones that we implemented this year for the forests and mountain areas in Attica,”, Mitsotakis pointed out, stressing that the fire was extinguished in a few hours . The Greek Prime Minister called on the municipalities to remove dangerous flammable materials from open areas.
