President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said he asked Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is visit today to Kiev, to join the peace efforts being made by his country. However, today in Kiev, Orban demanded a ceasefire with Russia, France Press reported, BTA reported.

"I invite Hungary and Prime Minister Orbán to join the ongoing efforts to organize a new summit for peace," Zelensky said in his daily address to the nation. According to the French press, in this way he showed that he does not accept Orbán's request formulated earlier today.

Deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential administration Igor Jofka confirmed that Zelensky had listened to the ceasefire proposal made by Orban, but expressed his own position in response to it. The peace plan presented by Zelensky since the beginning of the war calls for the withdrawal of the Russian military from Ukrainian territory, the trial by an international court of the Russian representatives responsible for the war and the payment of reparations by Moscow to Kiev. These ideas have already been rejected by Moscow.

This plan failed to win the support of the countries of the Global South, however, during the peace summit organized in Switzerland in mid-June. Russia was not present at that time. Zelensky then stated that he is working on a new plan to end the conflict, with the goal of this new plan being approved by the majority of countries in the international community.

Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed his own solution - for Ukraine to cede to Russia the five regions partially occupied by Russia and to give up its ambitions to join NATO. This hypothesis was rejected by Kiev and the West. However, Zelensky today described the results of his talks with Orban as good. "We found that the relations between Ukraine and Hungary today are completely different. They are specific and we take into account the needs of both countries," Zelensky said.
