Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov today called statements by some Western countries at the NATO summit this week a dangerous escalation, in which allow Kiev to use weapons supplied by them to strike Russian territory, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
In a conversation with journalists, he noted that, according to Moscow, such weapons are already being used to strike on Russian territory. Peskov also said that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban had not informed Russian President Vladimir Putin that he planned to meet with former US President Donald Trump. According to him, Putin did not convey any message to Trump through Orban.
Orban visited Russia last week for talks with Putin amid a series of visits to Ukraine and China before meeting Trump in Florida this week. According to the Kremlin spokesman, media reports that Russia planned to assassinate the CEO of German arms company "Rheinmetall" are based on "false" information. Peskov stressed that these messages are from anonymous sources, they do not contain "serious documentation". and therefore cannot be taken seriously.
Russia does not rule out any possibility of a possible resumption of the now-defunct Black Sea grain deal, the Kremlin spokesman also said. He recalled the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin that Moscow was open to discussing a possible resumption of the grain deal, but only as part of a wider complex of issues.
The agreements on Ukraine should be comprehensive, and not on separate issues taken out of context, explained Peskov, quoted by TASS.
On last night's slip of the tongue by US President Joe Biden, who inadvertently introduced Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky as Russian President Vladimir Putin before correcting himself, the Kremlin spokesman said the whole world had taken notice, but the US voters, not Russia, should determine their presidential candidates.
At another point, Biden also mistakenly named Republican rival Donald Trump as his vice president instead of Kamala Harris. "This is not our topic. This is a US theme. Let the American voters determine the chances of the (presidential) candidates", Peskov stressed.
"For us, this was unacceptable. It (such behavior) does not present an American head of state in a good light," the Kremlin spokesman added. Biden explained that he made the mistake with Zelensky's name because he was "so focused on defeating Putin", notes Reuters.
