The party "Alternative for Germany" sharply criticized the government's ban on the far-right magazine "Compact", reported DPA, quoted by BTA.
The decision announced today by Interior Minister Nancy Feser is a "severe blow to media freedom," far-right co-chairs Alice Weidel and Tino Krupala said in a joint statement.
The two said that banning the media was tantamount to "taking away the right to debate and dismissing different opinions", and accused Feser of abusing power "to suppress critical writing".
Feser issued a ban on the magazine with editor-in-chief Jürgen Elsasser and searched premises associated with the media organization in four countries.
The ban is based on the fact that the monthly magazine spreads "anti-Semitic, racist, anti-minority, historical revisionist and conspiratorial content".
