A Garbage Balloon sent by the DPRK has landed on the grounds of the Presidential Complex in South Korea, Yonhap reported, citing the Presidential Security Service.
The agency said it found the debris near South Korea's presidential administration and defense ministry buildings. According to Yonhap, there were several debris balloons.
„Investigation by the chemical, biological and radiological response team showed that the objects did not pose a danger, so they were removed,” the security service said of the debris that fell from the balloon.
Since the end of May, North Korea has been sending garbage balloons towards South Korea. North Korea said it was responding to the distribution of propaganda leaflets by South Korea, which uses a similar method.
In early June, Seoul announced its intention to resume broadcasting propaganda broadcasts from loudspeakers along the border with North Korea. In this way, residents of the border areas with the DPRK will be able to listen to K-pop, news and other South Korean programs.
The decision could lead to a “very dangerous situation,”, stressed Kim Yo-jong, deputy head of the Central Committee Department of the Workers' Party of North Korea, which is the sister of the country's leader Kim Jong-un. “I seriously advise Seoul to immediately stop dangerous actions that may lead to further confrontation,”, Kim Yo-jong said.
