German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he believed it was “very likely“ US Vice President Kamala Harris to win the presidential election later this year, which appears to be a hint of his support for her, Reuters reported, citing BTA.
Scholz was unusually forthright in his support for US President Joe Biden before he dropped out of the re-election race last weekend. Now he has reaffirmed his endorsement of Harris as the Democratic nominee to face Donald Trump in the November election.
„The US election campaign is sure to be exciting, now with a slightly revamped lineup and a new constellation,” Scholz said today during his annual summer press conference. “I think it is very likely that Kamala Harris will win the election, but the American voters will decide that,”, he added.
The German chancellor specified that he met several times with the American vice president and found her to be a “competent and experienced politician”.
