The security forces in Germany have been put on high alert because of the tensions in the Middle East, announced the Minister of the Interior Nancy Feser, quoted by DPA and BTA.
„We are closely monitoring how a possible future escalation will affect the security situation in Germany”, Feser told the regional newspaper “Reinische Post” today.
She indicated that the risk of future escalation in the Middle East was high and described the situation as “extremely dangerous”. The German government, together with its international partners, is working hard for de-escalation, Feser added.
„After the terrorist attack of „Hamas” in Israel on October 7, 2023 and the subsequent war in Gaza, there has been a drastic increase in anti-Semitic crimes, the minister reported. “Our security forces are doing everything in their power to break the spiral that leads from violence in the Middle East to even more heinous anti-Semitism here,” she added.
Feser also noted that decisive measures have been taken against Islamist ideology in Germany, recalling the banning of the Islamic Center in Hamburg and its branches elsewhere in the country at the end of July.
She also mentioned the ban on the Palestinian group “Hamas” and the pro-Palestinian network “Samidun“ in Germany.
Feser expressed his sincere gratitude to the federal states for their continued efforts to protect Jewish and Israeli institutions in Germany by deploying a large police force.
