A well-known Ukrainian journalist published on his Telegram channel an intercepted oral report of the head of the Russian administration Alexander Garkavenko . He is an ethnic Ukrainian, born in the Sumy region in the village of Novye Verki, and it was the Russian authorities he served that razed part of the Kursk region to the ground.
What the audio reveals:
- The Russian military knew two weeks in advance that there would be a Ukrainian offensive, but did not want to prepare for it. Local residents also guessed about the offensive;
- The Russian leadership of the region deliberately lied to the residents that the situation was under control, but in fact abandoned the people to their fate;
- Russian soldiers committed war crimes in front of witnesses, in particular they deployed in the middle of a residential area a Reactive Multiple Fire System and fired volleys of rockets from "Grad" launchers;
- The pace of the offensive was so fast that the district administration did not have time to move - as soon as they moved to a new settlement, it immediately fell under the control of the Ukrainians;
- The Russian military was not supplied with ammunition, communication between military commanders and civilian bureaucrats did not work;
Garkavenko believes that the reason for Ukrainians' awareness is not betrayal, but corruption.
