Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said that President Vladimir Putin has made an important decision on how to respond to the Ukrainian invasion of Kursk region. The diplomat did not reveal what Putin intended to do after a foreign army invaded Russia for the first time since World War II, but said the “perpetrators will suffer severe punishment”.
Via mk.ru, the military expert and former special forces officer – reserve colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, said that through his ambassador in Washington, Russian leader Putin sent a message to Washington so that there would be no surprises later. The message is that a cruel response is coming.
According to Matviychuk, a military response is being prepared against Ukraine, which consists in the complete defeat of the group that invaded the territory of the Kursk region. In addition, he believes, Russia will increase its bombardment with hypersonic missiles against Ukraine's critical infrastructure.
Asked if Moscow wants to oust Volodymyr Zelensky from power, Matviychuk said the Ukrainian president is a “puppet who is very predictable”. “We know where he will be tomorrow, we know who he will ask for help. If a new person comes, it will be more difficult to track him”, the Russian military expert said.
On August 6, the Ukrainian army carried out a surprise invasion of Russia's Kursk region, establishing control over dozens of settlements in a matter of days. The Russian military leadership is in shock and cannot yet stop the Ukrainian forces. Western experts said the invasion was a real embarrassment for Putin, who had proven unable to protect his own population.
