Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid today called for a strike to paralyze the state and pressure the government to reach an agreement to release the remaining hostages in the Gaza Strip, Reuters reports, quoted by BTA.

Lapid, who is also a former prime minister, called on all Israelis "whose heart was broken this morning" to join a large demonstration in Tel Aviv later in the day. He also called on Israel's main trade union, businesses and municipalities to join the strike.

The calls come after the bodies of six Israeli hostages were discovered in the Gaza Strip.
