A Russian citizen living in Sarasota, Florida was arrested yesterday on charges of smuggling, money laundering and illegal export to Russia of technological products that can be used in the production of drones, said the US Department of Justice, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.

The indictment alleges that after the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces in 2022, 44-year-old Denis Postovoy obtained microelectronic parts that he illegally exported to Russia and that could be used in the production of drones. said a statement on the website of the Ministry of Justice.

"According to the indictment, this defendant illegally exported dual-use technologies to Russia that could increase its ability to wage an unprovoked war against Ukraine," US Attorney Matthew Graves said in the statement.

The Russian Embassy in the US said on the Telegram communication app that it was aware of Postovoy's detention but had not "received any official notification from local law enforcement agencies.

According to the US Department of Justice, Postovoy used a network of companies in Russia and Hong Kong, ordering parts from US distributors and shipping them to Russia. Intermediate destinations were used to disguise the final destination of the parcels.
