From October 30, taxi drivers in Greece who have not pasted a special sticker informing customers that the driver is obliged to accept payments by card and issuing a cash receipt, will be fined 1,000 euros, reported the Greek site “Kathimerini”, quoted by BTA.
After the All-Hellenic Taxi Federation refused to receive the stickers, arguing that they were too large and a safety hazard, the Ministry of National Economy and Finance and the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE) issued a new decision giving taxi drivers five weeks (which started yesterday) to procure and place the special designations.
For its part, the Federation of Taxi Drivers accuses the ministry of extortion and expects to read the decision first to plan its next actions.
