European Commission launches proceedings against Slovenia for failure to fulfill obligations - 1

The European Commission has launched two procedures against Slovenia for failure to fulfill obligations under the legal order of the European Union, reported the Slovenian edition of the regional television En 1. It is a question of obligations related to the transposition of directives on sustainability reporting by companies and the promotion of energy from renewable sources in the national legal order, quoted by BTA.

In connection with the transposition of the directive for the promotion of energy from renewable sources, the EC started yesterday a procedure against 26 member states. By July 1, national legislations had to incorporate some of the decisions in the directive. Only Denmark has notified the commission of the fulfilled obligations.

Regarding the transposition of the directive on the sustainability reporting of companies, the EC has started a procedure against a total of 17 member states, including Slovenia. The directive requires large enterprises and listed companies to report in a transparent manner on the social and environmental risks they face and how their activities affect people and the environment. The deadline for transposing the directive expired on July 6.
