Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he will not discuss the recall of Ukraine's ambassador to the US Oksana Makarova with House Speaker Mike Johnson.
„I can only discuss our ambassadors with the spokesperson of my country. This is written in the constitution. I can't talk about it with Speaker Johnson, with all due respect to him,”, he said in an interview with the American television channel Fox News.
Zelensky stressed that he does not want to involve Kiev in the US election campaign, so as not to lose the bipartisan support of US lawmakers. According to the Ukrainian leader, the visit to the munitions manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania was not discussed during his meeting with the US presidential candidate from the Republican Party, Donald Trump.
The House Oversight and Accountability Committee announced earlier that it had opened an investigation into Zelensky's visit to a Pennsylvania munitions plant.
