The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, called for no further escalation to be allowed after Iran carried out a missile attack against Israel, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
„Such actions threaten regional stability and heighten tensions in an already extremely volatile situation,” Von der Leyen said, urging “all countries to protect the lives of innocent civilians”.
At the same time, she condemned the Iranian attack “in the strongest possible way”.
She confirmed the EU's calls “for a ceasefire along the border with Lebanon and in Gaza, as well as for the release of the hostages who have been held for almost a year”.
