Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated that Russia maintains contacts with all countries in the region and condemns any action that leads to the death of civilians. He stated that the situation in the Middle East is developing in an alarming direction and called on all participants to exercise restraint, reports "Reuters", quoted by News.bg.
Earlier today, Israel's military announced that regular infantry and armored units were joining ground operations in southern Lebanon, stepping up pressure on Hezbollah as Israel prepares to respond to an Iranian missile attack.
"This situation is developing according to the most alarming scenario," Peskov reported.
"We call for restraint from all sides against the background of what is happening. And, of course, we condemn any actions that lead to the death of civilians," he pointed out.
Asked what Moscow would do next and whether it would support Iran if Tehran entered into a full-scale conflict with Israel, Peskov replied: "We have contacts with all parties in this conflict, we continue to maintain these contacts and call on all parties to restraint."
