Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed the latest events and the humanitarian situation in Lebanon by phone with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati today, the Turkish Foreign Ministry reported, as quoted by Reuters and BTA.
Fidan told Mikati that Turkey is ready to provide humanitarian aid to Lebanon, according to the department's statement.
Tomorrow marks one year since the unprecedented attack on Israel by the Palestinian Islamist movement “Hamas”. It triggered the war in the Gaza Strip, which then spread to neighboring Lebanon, directed against the “Hezbollah” group, an ally of “Hamas”.
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati today called on the international community to “put pressure on Israel” so that the Jewish state can “commit to a ceasefire” after Israel carried out massive strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, which are stronghold of “Hezbollah“.
