Ukraine high-level meeting scheduled to take place at US Air Force Base " ;Rammstein" in Germany on Saturday, was postponed after US President Joe Biden canceled his visit to the country due to Hurricane Milton raging in the US. This was announced by the DPA agency, referring to the American command at the "Ramstein" base, quoted by BTA.
"The event scheduled for October 12, 2024 has been postponed," said the statement from the press service of the US military base, quoted by Reuters. The base is located in the German province of Rhineland-Palatinate, near the city of Ramstein-Miesenbach.
According to the command, a new date will soon be announced for the next meetings of the US-led Contact Group on providing defense assistance to Ukraine. This group is on its way to becoming part of the NATO structures.
Reuters reports that before the official statement from "Rammstein", the foreign policy adviser to the Polish president, Andrzej Duda – Meshko Pavlak informed the agency that the meeting will not take place, which is why Duda also canceled his trip to Germany.
DPA agency notes that the postponement of the meeting on October 12 is not a surprise, considering the canceled visit of Biden to Germany. The US President was due to arrive in Berlin tomorrow evening for a meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz, before leaving for "Ramstein".
