Moscow's top diplomat: We will respond instantly if US allows strikes deep into Russian territory - 1

Russia will trigger measures to respond to the potential use of long-range weapons by Ukraine on Russian territory as soon as the relevant decision is made, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, quoted by the BBC.< /p>

"We stopped following this topic, as the president said what will happen, what conclusions we will draw if such a decision is made,", Lavrov said.

"As soon as it is accepted - if it is accepted - we will know about it. And the scheme that Vladimir Putin mentioned will be in effect," the Russian minister added.

In September, President Putin said lifting restrictions on Russia's long-range weapons strikes would mean direct involvement of NATO countries in the conflict.

"If that is the case, then, bearing in mind the change in the very nature of this conflict, we will make appropriate decisions based on the threats that will be created for us," he added, then announced changes to the nuclear doctrine of Russia and expanding the list of grounds for Moscow's use of nuclear weapons.

Ukrainian authorities are actively pushing for the ban to be lifted, and US President Joe Biden has hinted that Washington could allow Ukraine to launch long-range US missile attacks on targets deep behind Russian lines.

Some Western media wrote that such a decision could be taken at a meeting of the leaders of the United States and Great Britain in Washington on September 13.

President Zelensky said in a recent interview that Russia has deployed its combat aircraft further from the front. "Now Russia has begun withdrawing its aircraft from one hundred kilometers, one hundred fifty three hundred to five hundred. And we need more permits," noted the Ukrainian president.
