Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibyga begins a tour of the Middle East and Africa to present Kiev's plan to end the war with Russia, Agence France-Presse reported, citing the press center of the Ukrainian diplomatic service, quoted by BTA .
The minister will start his tour with a visit today to Oman, on Thursday and Friday he will be in Angola, before arriving in Egypt. On Sunday and Monday Sibiga will be in South Africa.
Since Russia launched its invasion in February 2022, Ukraine has made increasing efforts to gain the support of the so-called Global South, where Moscow has many traditional allies. Unlike the West, the Global South refrains from condemning Russia and helping Kiev, commented AFP.
The purpose of Sibiga's tour is to “promote the plan to win” over Russia, proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky, “to develop a political dialogue” and to “consolidate humanitarian and energy aid to Ukraine”, the statement of the diplomatic department reads.
The minister will talk with state leaders and with representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora.
