The far-right opposition party "Alternative for Germany" (AzG) welcomed the collapse of Chancellor Olaf Scholz's ruling coalition and described it as a long overdue and "liberation for Germany", reported DPA, quoted by BTA.
AzG leaders in the lower house of parliament, the Bundestag, Alice Weidel and Tino Krupala, accused last night the triple coalition of Scholz's Social Democratic Party of Germany (GSDP), the Greens and the liberals of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) that because of their rule Germany rapidly headed for an economic abyss.
"After weeks of impasse and countless sessions of self-centered therapy, we now urgently need a fundamental political change that will lead the economy and the country as a whole out of the severe crisis we have fallen into thanks to the ideologically motivated politics of the GSDP, the Greens and the SDP" ;, they added.
Weidel and Krupala urged Scholz to do Germany one last favor and immediately demand a vote of confidence.
Last night the chancellor said he would ask for a vote of confidence on January 15 after sacking finance minister and SDP leader Christian Lindner earlier in the evening.
Sarah Wagenknecht, chairman of the formation "Sarah Wagenknecht Alliance" (ASV), criticized German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's intention to wait until January 15 to request a vote of confidence in parliament, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
"The deadlines announced by the chancellor are a prolongation of political bankruptcy," she told the news portal t-online.
Wagenknecht also criticized Scholz's lengthy speech in which he justified his decision to fire Finance Minister Christian Lindner, the leader of his governing partners in the liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP).
"Instead of using tonight to apologize to citizens for the past three years, the man who is still chancellor gave a smug campaign speech," she said.
Scholz's intention to relax the constitutional debt ceiling to finance the provision of arms to Ukraine, "while at the same time in Germany bridges and railways are rusting and millions of pensioners live in poverty, shows that this government is has failed legitimately," Wagenknecht said.
ASV, which combines left-wing economic policies with far-right views on issues such as migration and pro-Russian positions, is on the rise according to polls.
