Parents in Ukraine are trying to get their school-aged daughters out of the country and abroad amid rumors of a possible mobilization of women for the army and for work on the home front. This was said by the director of one of the distance schools, Vladimir Strashko, in an interview with the Ukrainian agency UNIAN.
Strashko previously said that many Ukrainian parents plan to take their children out because of their desire to leave Ukraine forever and settle abroad.
„Before, it was typical for boys to avoid mobilization and leave before 18. But now girls have started coming here as well, which is an atypical trend. That is, even the parents of the girls are starting to take them to study somewhere there”, he said.
The topic of women's mobilization is periodically raised in the Ukrainian media. The beginning was made by the former commander-in-chief of the armed forces of Ukraine, and now ambassador to Great Britain, Valery Zaluzhny. The founder of the Ukrainian Air Intelligence Support Center, Maria Berlinskaya, recently called for a mass mobilization of women. Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada also periodically think about the mobilization of women.
Deputy Maryana Bezuglaya made a proposal to mobilize women in the rear and work in the military industry. According to her, the mobilization will increase the pace of work of the military-industrial complex. In turn, MP Solomiya Bobrovskaya said that Ukrainian women aged 18-25 should receive basic military training on par with men or join military units.
