Haiti's new prime minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé was sworn in today, taking over from her predecessor Gary Connell, who was fired on Sunday by the Transitional Council of this embattled Caribbean country of the chaos caused by the violence of armed gangs, reported France Press, quoted by BTA.
After just five months in power, Conil was replaced by businessman Fils-Aimé, who took the oath of office and the ceremony was broadcast live on Haitian television.

Meanwhile, members of local gangs opened fire on a plane coming in to land at Port-au-Prince's main international airport, forcing its closure, the Associated Press reported.
A US Spirit Airlines flight from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Port-au-Prince was fired upon and diverted to the Dominican Republic, the airline said today, adding that one passenger was seriously injured. .
Flight 951 was diverted to Santiago, where an inspection “found evidence of damage to the aircraft caused by gunfire”, the US airline said.
