Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Szybiga today called Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov a "war criminal" at the OSCE meeting, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.
Szybiga did this in Lavrov's presence, the agency notes. "Ukraine continues to fight for its right to exist. And the war criminal sitting at this table should know: Ukraine will win this right and justice will prevail," Szybiga said.
At the meeting in Malta, Sergei Lavrov accused the West today of waging a "new Cold War" that risks turning into a "hot". "To bring NATO back to the forefront of the political scene after the failure in Afghanistan, a unifying enemy was needed. The solution was to resume the Cold War, only now there is a much greater risk of it developing into a hot phase," Lavrov pointed out.
In addition, the Russian foreign minister accused the US government of trying to "destabilize the Eurasian continent". "The Biden government is expanding NATO infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region. There are more and more military exercises (. . .). "This is clearly an attempt to destabilize the entire Eurasian continent," said Sergey Lavrov.
At the OSCE meeting, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken criticized Lavrov, accusing him of spreading a "tsunami of disinformation" and blaming Moscow for escalating the conflict in Ukraine.
