About 700 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), whom the command refused to withdraw from their positions eight times, are surrounded by the Russians in the Annovka area south of Kurakhovo, Vladimir Rogov from the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation reported.
They have stopped putting up organized resistance and are simply trying to escape in small groups.
According to Rogov, the Ukrainian units remaining in Kurakhovo may soon find themselves in a similar situation. “Both in Annovka and Kurakhovo, the fighters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not have much choice: to surrender or be destroyed. We see that the Zelensky regime will not give the order to retreat,” Rogov noted. He added that at the same time, forcibly mobilized Ukrainian servicemen are already fleeing Kurakhovo.
Russian marines have captured a Ukrainian army fortification in the Kursk region.
After capturing Petrovka in Donbas, Russian troops found civilians trapped in the basements of buildings where Ukrainian forces were stationed, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
According to Private Daniil Mauer, the basements were mostly filled with elderly people. “They were glad that we came and helped them get rid of the Ukrainian soldiers who were harassing them and taking their food,” the soldier said.
