Ukrainian Air Force shoots down 13 Russian drones overnight - 1

Last night and this morning, the Ukrainian Air Force successfully shot down 13 Russian drones that tried to penetrate the country's air defenses, quoted by News.bg.

According to information from the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, the attack began at around 7:00 p.m. local time (the same time for Bulgaria) and lasted until 9:00 a.m. the next day.

This is another case of increased Russian air activity that Ukraine managed to repel thanks to its modernized defense capabilities.

Among the downed drones, 11 failed to reach their targets, which is most likely due to the effective work of Ukrainian electronic warfare forces.

These systems actively jam the signals of enemy drones and unmanned aerial vehicles, which makes their navigation systems inoperative and forces them to deviate from their course.

This form of electronic warfare is a key part of Ukraine's efforts to defend its airspace and prevent the enemy from using drones and other unmanned vehicles for attacks.

The beginning of the attack and the weapons used

Russia began the air attack on Ukraine with two ballistic missiles "Iskander-M" launched from Voronezh and Kursk regions.

In addition to the missiles, Russian forces also sent 24 "Shahed" drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles from the Oryol and Bryansk regions, as well as from the military airfield in Millerovo, Rostov region.

Despite the difference in the attack platforms used, the Ukrainian air defense system managed to shoot down all the drones and prevent the air attack from reaching its objectives.

Geographical scope of the defense

The downed drones fell in various regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kirovgrad, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions.

This indicates that the attack was aimed at a wide front of strategically important points, including large industrial and military facilities in these regions.

Despite the wide spectrum of the attack, the Ukrainian air defense was able to respond quickly and effectively.

Technical and strategic preparation

Not only the Ukrainian air defense, but also specialized electronic warfare units, which play an equally important role in ensuring the safety of airspace, participated in repelling this air attack.

Mobile artillery systems were also used to reinforce efforts to destroy flying objects and prevent any possibility of hitting critical infrastructure.

This incident highlights the growing challenges facing Ukraine, but also the effectiveness of its defense infrastructure, which combines both high-tech air defense assets and advanced electronic warfare systems.
