One person was injured in an attack in central Tel Aviv. The attacker was armed with a knife, the Israeli police press service reported.
Law enforcement authorities classified the incident as a terrorist attack. It occurred in the area of Levontin Street in central Tel Aviv, where many bars and restaurants are concentrated.
"The initial investigation into the incident indicates that a terrorist armed with a knife arrived in the area of the restaurant and stabbed a civilian, who was seriously injured and evacuated for medical treatment. "An armed citizen who was nearby shot at the terrorist and neutralized him," the police press service said in a statement.
A large police force is currently deployed to the scene of the incident and an investigation is underway. According to the Ynet portal, the attack was carried out by a resident of the Palestinian city of Tulkarm in the West Bank, who was illegally in Israeli territory.
