The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Karol Nawrocki on his victory in the presidential elections in Poland, BTA reports.
“I am confident that the EU will continue its good cooperation with Poland“, she wrote on the social network X. “We are stronger together in our community of peace, democracy and values. Let us work for the security and progress of our common home“, the EC President urged.
As reported by BTA, the opposition-backed “PiS“ Historian Karol Nawrocki won the second round of the presidential election with 50.89% of the vote, according to the Polish Central Election Commission. His rival, the mayor of Warsaw and candidate of the ruling "Civil Coalition" coalition, Rafal Trzaskowski, received 49.11% on a voter turnout of 71.63%.
