Bad news for Moscow! Israel is already transferring Russian weapons captured in Lebanon to Ukraine - 1

Israel is considering the possibility of transferring Soviet and Russian weapons captured in Lebanon to Ukraine, but there are signs that such deliveries are already underway, writes the British The Telegraph. An Israeli representative met with Ukrainian diplomats to discuss the transfer of weapons captured by the Israel Defense Forces during operations, and since then American military cargo planes have been flying from Israel to an air base in eastern Poland.

About 60% of the weapons captured by Israel during the fight against "Hezbollah" in Lebanon in 2024, were manufactured by the Soviet Union and Russia, the British newspaper notes.

"Among them are sniper rifles and advanced "Kornet" anti-tank missiles, provided to "Hezbollah" from Syria, which was a loyal ally of Russia under Bashar al-Assad“, the article adds.

According to media reports, the deal to transfer the captured weapons to Ukraine was a private proposal by Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharen Haskel.

The newspaper also recalls that on Wednesday, January 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog to discuss important issues related to cooperation between Ukraine and Israel.

Israel has traditionally maintained a neutral policy towards Russia, but has moved towards rapprochement with Ukraine amid deepening ties between Moscow and Tehran.

Over the past three years, the newspaper recalls, Iran has become an important ally of Russia, supplying the country with drones and missiles for the war against Ukraine. At the same time, Iran supports groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, which aim to destroy Israel.

On November 17, 2024, the Times of Israel reported that the Ukrainian ambassador welcomed the proposal of Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Gaskell to hand over to Ukraine Russian-made weapons confiscated by the IOF.

On November 13, Ambassador Yevgeny Korniychuk stated that the Israeli side had fully provided everything necessary for the creation of an early warning system for air threats in Ukraine. Currently, the country is at the final stage of putting this Israeli technology into operation.

On the same day, the Israeli ambassador to Ukraine, Michael Brodsky, announced close cooperation between Ukraine and Israel on the issue of combating Iranian drones.
