Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that everyone who made a mistake or showed negligence in the tragic fire at a hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort will be held accountable. He stressed that not only those who showed negligence, but also those who skimped on fire safety will be punished, BTA reports.
His statement followed a meeting of the Turkish cabinet at the “Beştepe“ Palace, which lasted about two hours.
Important domestic and regional issues were discussed during the meeting, with the president paying special attention to the investigation into the Kartalkaya tragedy, which killed 78 people and injured 51 on January 21.
The inspectors investigating the incident will soon complete their reports and submit them to the prosecutor general. Erdogan said that whoever is responsible for the incident will face punishment.
The president also indicated that Turkey will continue to strengthen its cooperation with African countries and strengthen ties with countries in the Turkic world. During the meeting, he also commented on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that Turkey is ready to help ensure stability and a lasting ceasefire there.
Erdogan expressed satisfaction with the fact that humanitarian aid is now reaching those in need in Gaza.
